I’m Nicole Quenelle, an experienced freelance writer and communications/outreach consultant living in Philadelphia, PA. I have two decades of experience communicating the impact of science, technology, energy, and environmental initiatives, as well as grant and nonprofit programs to a wide range of both technical and lay audiences. I have worked as a freelance writer and consultant on a contract or subcontract basis for small firms whose clients include NASA, the Department of Energy, academic research institutes, conservation non-profits, public sector service providers, and tech startups. I have also worked with clients directly in fields including nonprofit, arts, and higher ed.
My recent work includes leading impact-focused communications and grantee outreach for a NASA grant program; increasing awareness of a Pennsylvania conservation program through integrated communications; and refining content development processes for a public sector IT services provider to increase organic traffic and boost content authority and credibility.
Clients count on me to provide clear, compelling, accurate, and accessible communication to drive change, compel action, and gather interest around innovative programs that improve lives and communities, and protect our planet.
Outside of my communications work, I’m an avid hiker, yogi, and fitness enthusiast; arts practitioner; auntie; and basketball fan. I also volunteer time to leading tree planting teams in Philly’s urban neighborhoods. My connection to the arts, community-focused initiatives, and environmental advocacy play a strong role in the sensibility I bring to my communications work, and have prepared me well for work with mission-driven organizations. I welcome and seek out projects with teams whose mission and values aim to improve lives and communities, protect our planet, and advance innovation and research for the benefit of humanity.
